King to reveal details of understanding with parties

Kathmandu, 2 April: The King is to reveal details of an understanding with political parties in April 2006, Dhristi reports from New Delhi.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda and his deputy Dr Baburam Bhattarai will be badly exposed if the King decides to speak on New Year’s Day.
According to New Delhi sources, Prachanda and CPN (Maoist) are party in some form to retain the king and give his some place.
Prachanda is aware of an agreement in New Delhi to retain the king.
When the king reveals the understanding, international power centers will be in an embarrassing situation and seven parties will be in a very awkward situation.
Finally, the constituent assembly will come under pressure to implement the understanding with the king; the biggest pressure will be on the Congress and Girija Prasad Koirala to implement the agreement in some form.
New Delhi sources said a proposal to implement the agreement could be proposed at the assembly.
Koirala, at the end, agreed only to incorporate the word ‘republic’ in the interim constitution and his daughter Sujata has spoken Koirala’s opinion on monarchy.
As assembly election approached, India is saying there is no agreement for fear it will be embroiled in a controversy [Dr Karan Singh proposed retaining constitutional monarchy in a meeting with the king in April 2006 when he came as envoy of Manmohan Singh to which the king agreed].
A South Bloc source said,” India is not included in that,” while others recall the agreement.
‘Maoists, including Chairman Prachanda, who were still underground [in New Delhi] agreed to the second royal address with other party leader,” the source said.
Congress leaders Gopalman Shrestha and Bimalendra Nidhi talked with Prachanda, Bhattarai and Krishna Bahadur Mahara at a flat in Noida where they drove secretly.
Bhattarai, according to the source, asked Shrestha then: Will the king be ready to be a constitutional monarch? The diary of the meeting is with Shrestha.”
There was an agreement at that meeting to include the words ‘dictatorial monarchy’ at that meeting, the source said.
Maoists are making a loud noise now for fear of being exposed when the king speaks.
