Kathmandu, 22 April: Three passengers heading for the capital were injured overnight when their bus was attacked at terai rebel groups
for defying a strike.
A rebel group stabbed a youth overnight to death in Bara where a bus was bombed Wednesday morning; there were no casualties.
Schools closed down for the 10 April constituent assembly elections amid daily clashes and uncertainty the vote will beheld.
Government has recruited teachers mostly loyalists of a republic to oversee as schools will also be used as polling centers forcing the closure.
Party activists attached with NOGs to monitor elections are acting as agents of ruling parties instead of overseeing the vote or educating the voters; these NGOs are mostly funded a DFID of Great Britain and US sponsors.
Their funding isn’t transparent even at request of the Election Commission.
Maoists said its activist Prabha Shrestha was mauled in a Congress attack in Rasuwa which Maoists closed down in protest Wednesday.
One dozen Congress workers were injured in clashes in the northern district bordering Tibet Tuesday.
Cabinet Wednesday is discussing a four-day holiday for elections to be proposed by Home Minister Krishna Prasad Shitaula.
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Tuesday rejected a CPN-UML proposal for electoral adjustments in 15 constituencies for facilitate the victory of top leaders of three parties to win in elections. Naya Patrika said.
