Violence continues after end of campaigning

Kathmandu, 8 April: Six Maoists and Congressmen were injured in a clash at Nawalparasi Tuesday morning after the end of campaigning.
A candidate Sushil Das, a heart patient, was rushed to hospital in an unconscious state after a group bombed his house overnight in Siraha.

Govt. circulates illegally defaced Rs 1000 currency notes

Kathmandu, 8 April: Government Monday brought into circulation Rs 1,000 paper currency notes without the portrait of the king but by illegally defacing it.
It is illegal to deface legal tender currency notes.
The rhododendron was printed in both sides of the paper currency over the crown to hide it.
Government previously circulated Rs 500 in similar fashion.
The king’s portrait has been replaced by Sagarmatha.
