Kathmandu, 4 April: Who are behind the protests of Tibetan refugees in Nepal?
This is a question asked by Saroj Raj Adhikari in Nepal newsmagazine.
World-wide protests against the Olympic marathon but there’s no indication of the protests stopping in Nepal.
Some events in the past month have alerted the Chinese who are now openly saying. ’foreign powers are inciting’ the protests even as protesters claim the opposition is spontaneous.
Former Lhasa Consul General Tamkla Ukyab says,” The present protests aren’t spontaneous but sponsored. Most protestors aren’t Tibetan refugees in Nepal.”
Metropolitan Police SP Sabendra Khanal said daily about 50 protestors are rounded up and released and added,” More than half the arrested don’t have refugee ID cards.”
According to sources, most of the daily protestors came from India one month ago are led by Thumden Tenzing under the banner of the Nepal-Tibet Volunteers Youth For Free Tibet.
Khanal said some foreigners, Americans and Europeans, have been arrested with the Tibetans.

[Note: Americans have officially protested police crackdown on protestors while China has sought protection for its property and asked government to clamp down on what has been called anti-China protestors for a Free Tibet. Government, reassuring China, said it supports a One China policy.]
