Jhalanath Khanal takes over CPN-UML

Kathmandu, 14 May: A central committee meeting of the CPN-UML Wednesday afternoon is appointing Jhalanath Khanal general secretary, party mouthpiece Budhabar reports.
He will be given responsibility to hold the party general convention in autumn 2008.
Madhav Kumar Nepal proposed Khanal’s name and standing committee members endorsed the proposal.
Nepal is taking over thel Foreign department of the partyf rom Khanal.
A special committee to hold the convention is not being held to reduce pressures.

Five Nepalis missing in Lebanon
Doha, 13 May: Five Nepalis have gone missing in Beirut after a recent flare-up, Rabi Bhatta reports for Rajdhani.
Dipendra Upreti said Punya Prasad Timalshina, Gayatra Bhandari, Sita Bhandari, DB Shah and Yam Shahi are missing.
