Prachanda foresees challenges in govt. formation

Kathmandu, 8 May: Chairman Prachanda said there will be challenges to meet when seven ruling parties meet tomorrow Friday to push the formation of a post-election government as CPN-UML has threatened to boycott the Maoist-led government.
CPN-UML central committee members have demanded dissolution of YCL opposed by Maoists and action against Maoists responsible for assaults against rival party activists before and after the 10 April poll swept by Maoists.
Prachanda threatened to overrun the country if attempts are made to stop the CPN (Maoist) from forming a government led by Maoist.
Prachanda said Thursday the process of government formation will begin with the meeting of seven-party alliance.
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala is reluctant to handover power to Maoists without adequate constitutional safeguards to against Maoist government takeover until a parliamentary elections in another 30 months.
Maoists have staked a claim to form a government as the largest political party in the 601-member CA.
Maoist Minister Deb Gurung said the party won’t compromise with any other party on government leadership.
Koirala Thursday received the formal election report from the Election Commission and he has to convene the assembly session within 21 days.

China thanks Nepal

Kathmandu, 8 May: Chinese government has thanked the Nepal government Thursday for helping Beijing carry the Olympic torch to the top of the world.
Nepal has closed the summit of the 8848 meters high from the south to foreign climbers until Chinese climbers took the torch to the top of the world.
Nepal also deployed security forces in the south to enforce the ban on foreign climbers and pro- Free Tibet and anti-Chinese activities form Nepal on Everest..
Chinese Ambassador Zhang Xianglin personally conveyed the message of the Chinese government to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala who also congratulated Chinese President Wu.
