Reasons why Purna Bahadur Khadka resigned asCongress central committee elected member

Kathmandu, 11 May: Former Home Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka resigned as elected Congress central committee member charging nobody in top leadership took responsibility for the party defeat in CA elections.
“Those in the leadership level didn’t pay attention to suggestions of central leaders and lawmakers. Timely attention wasn’t given and people, country and party became the victims of repeated wrong decisions.
“Even after a historic defeat in historic CA elections, nobody had the courage to take moral responsibility under accepted democratic norms,” Khadka said.
Khadka charged top leadership for being a ‘silent spectator without taking moral responsibility by violating accepted democratic norms’ for the defeat .
Without mentioning names, he charged Sushil Koirala for chairing the party central committee meeting even after announcing his resignation.
Sushil was defeated by a retired civil servant who vowed to take revenge on the acting party chief for mistreatment while the party was in power.
He charged Girija, Sushil and Sher Bahadur Deuba for overruling suggestions of parliamentary board and ignoring recommendations for elections by distributing tickets and nominations to cronies.
Parliamentary committee had suggested names of families of persons killed by Maoists during the people’s war.
Khadka was an elected central committee member from the Deuba camp.
He called for party reorganization and organizational change and hand –over of party leadership and responsibilities to youth and a new generation.
In sharp contract, CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal resigned after personal and party defeat taking personal responsibility for the party performance.
