Former king starts attending office

Kathmandu, 18 June: Former King Gyanendra for the first time started attending office at Nagarjung from Tuesday, Ishwar Raj Dhakal reports in Nepal Samacharpatra.
He held discussions with retired secretary Sharada Prasad Pradhan.
They discussed the current situation and the work of a former king.
Retired palace official Sambhu Adhikari has been attached to the office of former Queen Mother Ratna.Nearly 100 of 344 officials of the palace Monday took membership of a union of officials affiliated with Maoists.
Army personnel in civilian dress are still attached to the former king.

The meeting of CA adjourned

Kathmandu, 18 June: The third meeting of the CA was adjourned again for the third time Wednesday without fixing a date for another meeting.
Differences between the CPN (Maoist), Congress and CPN-UML have stalled substantive discussions.
A meeting of the three parties was also adjourned without discussions Wednesday.
Maoists had threatened to retreat from government if the resignation of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala wasn’t forthcoming to pave he way for the formation of a government led by Maoists.
Before the assembly adjourned, speakers asked why 26 members hadn’t been appointed to the assembly to far.
The only work of the CA has been to declare a republic on 28 May.

UK active in army integration

Kathmandu, 18 June: The British government, lobbying for army integration, is active behind the scene, Janaastha reports.
A team of British experts came from London one week ago discussed integration with leaders of big parties.
Team leader Stephen Logan and John Parr held separate discussions with Maoist commanders.
Reduction of army strength was discussed.
Nepal presented a 146 security package on which only one round of discussion was held.
DFID sponsored the meeting.
