Defence minister Badal meets Chinese counterpart

Kathmandu, 25 Sept: Defence Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal met his Chinese counterpart Liang Guanglie in Beijing Wednesday, RSS reports.
He arrived in the Chinese capital Tuesday to attend a military exercise of the People’s Liberation Army in Outer Mongolia.

Prachanda calls for change in US policy

Kathmandu, 25 Sept: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has expressed his dissatisfaction over the US government’s unchanged viewpoint towards Nepal’s Maoists, The Kathmandu Post reports.
Speaking at a talk programme organized by Asia Society in New York, Dahal informed that he has conveyed his dissatisfaction to US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Richard Boucher during a meeting with the latter.
He asked Boucher why the US government is still reluctant to change its view of the Maoists even after they have come a long way in the peace process and came into power through democratic election.

Monsoon ends Thursday

Kathmandu, 25 Sept: Monsoon is retreating from Nepal Thursday, Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.
Kathmandu experienced probably its last rain of the monsoon this year Wednesday.

Chinese milk products banned

Kathmandu, 25 Sept: Government has banned the import and sale of Chinese milk products, Kantipur reports.
Government has also decided to warn people of consuming tainted Chinese milk products.
