Further details on govt. transfer

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Madhav Paudel was Saturday appointed law secretary.
The cabinet met despite a holiday Saturday.
It issued a 92-point austerity drive, Government Spokesman Krishna Bahadur Mahara said.

Indian legislators arrive

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: A group of Indian lawmakers arrived Saturday for a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda who begins a political visit of India l14 September.
The six-member delegation that includes, Congress-I member of the Rajya Sabha Dr K.Keshab Rao and Congress-I Lok Sabha member Prof Alka Balram, will hold discussions with the prime minister Sunday.
The delegation will hold discussions with former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and CPN-UML General Secretary Jhalanath Khanal the same day.
The delegation will also hold discussions with Water Resources Minister Bishnu Paudel with the flooded Kosi river causing havoc in east Nepal and Bihar.
India is pushing Nepal to construct a Kosi high dam at the foothills after concluding the Kosi Barrage build in the early1960’s has lost its utility.
The dam constriction in not popular in Nepal which will be inundated replacing thousands in the inner valleys.
Several Nepali water resources specialists said India ignored the maintenance of the Kosi river project to press Nepal to construct the high dam.
Nepalis experts say the corruption in Bihar state government that maintains the river project was also behind the devastation left by the floods this year.
This was stated as much by federal railway minister and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.
