Maoist minister on announced suspicious visit of North Korea, China

Kathmandu, 22 Sept: Maoist Communication Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara left for an announced visit of North Korea through Beijing Thursday, Janabhavana reports.
Mahara cut short his India visit to fly to North Korea; Mahara accompanied .
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on his India visit but returned Wednesday before the return of the government chief.
Mahara held discussions with senior Chinese officials while transiting for hours at Beijing,
Details of the discussions weren’t known.
Mahara is accompanied by ‘hardliner’ youth leader Netra Bikram Chand.

Daughter-in-law also accompanies PM Prachanda
Kathmandu, 22 Sept: Daughter-in-law of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is also accompanying him on his US visit to start a new tradition, Janabhavana reports.
His wife and son are also accompanying Prachanda on a visit of capitalist USA.

Former king penning memoir
Kathmandu, 22 Sept: Former King Gyanendra is penning his memoir at Nagarjung, Nepal Samacharpatra reports.
The memoir is almost complete.
The former king spends most of his time, almost five hours every day, in research.
He updates himself with the country’s developments everyday with secretary Sagar Timalshina.
He meets with personal staff every Thursday.

Kathmandu, 22 Sept: Defence Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ boycotted a passing out parade of junior officers at Kharipati Thursday, Sanghu reports.
A ‘silent war’ has brewed between Bahal and army chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal.
The situation has worsened with the direct challenge of the government by the army chief.

Former US ambassador was go-between Deuba and Dr Arjoo marriage
Kathmandu, 22 Sept: US ambassadors also act as go-betweens in political marriages in countries where they are assigned.
Mother-in-law Prathiva Rana of former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said US Ambassador Julia Chang was the go-between in the marriage between Deuba and his daughter Dr Arjoo.
Deuba was home minister when the marriage was consummated.
“A foreigner was the go-between. Julia Chang brought the marriage proposal,’ Prathiba Rana told Tarun.
