PM Prachanda to visit India Sept 14

Kathmandu, 5 Sept: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will pay an official visit to India from 14 to 18 September, published reports said quoting Nepal’s Ambassador to India Durgesh Man Singh.
Prachanda described his India his ‘first political trip’ after assuming office although he visited China to attend the closing of the Beijing Olympics.
Prachanda also hoped to attend this month’s UN general assembly session.
It’s being watched with interest whether US authorities will give him a visa to enter New York to attend the session as leader of the Nepali delegation.
Washington has been issuing visas selectively to Nepal’s Maoists who are still on its terrorist list although USA has established direct contact with the former rebels who have been elected to power.

CA session meets
Kathmandu, 5 Sept: The CA will met later Friday for a budget session.
The Nepali Congress will be the main opposition in the assembly which will also have to draft a new constitution.
The Congress central committee meeting concluded Thursday ahead of the session.
Among 11 approved political resolutions, the party has called Madesh Janadhikar Forum (MJF) and Nepal Sadbhavana Party as friendly forces while charging CPN (Maoist) for continuing with ’war-time psychology’ and calling CPN-UML ‘spineless and unstable’, The Himalayan Times said.

Nine VDCs declared emergency-affected
Kathmandu, 5 Sept: Government has put nine inundated VDCs along the Kosi river emergency-affected areas in Saptari and Sunsari districts.
The VDCs are: Bhardaha, West Kusaha, Shripur, Basantapur, Haripur,Laukahi, JOkraha, Madhuban and Narsingh.
The cabinet set earmarked Rs 2.5 billion in emergency assistance for the victims of the devastating floods.
