Govt. forms talks team

Kathmandu, 4 Oct: Government has formed a three-member team to start talks with tarai rebels,
Peace Minister Janardhan Sharma Prabhakar is coordinator while Local Development Minister Ram Chandra Jha and Education Minister Renu Yadav are ministers.
Jha and Yadav hail from the tarai.
The trio were appointed Friday by the cabinet.
Government has asked rebels to abandon violence and sit down for talks.

A general convention of the party has been proposed.

Kathmandu, 4 Oct: Like the king, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav will offer tika to the general public on bijaya dashami on Thursday.
He will offer tika at his personal residence, according to the president’s office.

Ministers appointed to constitutional council

Kathmandu, 4 Oct: Home Minister Bamdeb Gautam, Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav and Local development Minister Deb Gurung have been appointed to the constitutional council.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda appointed them.
