British army chief visiting

Kaathmandu, 27 Nov: British army’s Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt will visit Nepal from Friday 28 November to Monday 1 December, the British embassy said.
He will see British Gurkhas Nepal’s recruit selection process while being briefed on its supporting activities.
Gen Dannatt is visiting Nepal for the first time Nepal during his tenure.
He will be paying courtesy calls on the President, the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister and meet the Chief of Army Staff, Gen Rookmangud Katawal.
The visit indicates the full restoration of ties between Nepal and British armies snapped during the royal regime before April 2005.
Gen Dannatt comes at a time when United Kingdom has shown interest in reorganization of Nepal Army and its stalled integration with Maoist PLA.
London has submitted several proposals for Nepalese Army integration.
The British army chief is visiting Nepal soon after the visit of Minister of International Development Mike Foster who announced a hike in British development assistance while pledging to with the Maoist-led government.
