Girija repeats same attack themes against Maoists

Kathmandu, 2 9 Nov: Girija Prasad Koirala Friday repeated Nepali Congress attack themes Maoists were not cooperating in drafting a constitution and he won’t permit integration of PLA with Nepal Army while addressing a national awareness campaign in Pokhara.
“Drafting the constitution is the main responsibility and the Congress will complete it in time; Maoists are sidelining it,” he charged.
Koirala said he won’t allow the good name of Nepal Army at home and abroad to be tarnished.
“I won’t permit integration of army until I am alive,” he told a well-attended rally in the report town of Pokhara.
Urban awareness campaigns- a jihad against Maoists- were held in Biratnagar, Birjung, Nepalgunj and will conclude in Mahendranagar.
Koirala accused Maoists for violating past agreements with other parties and asked they be honoured in letter and spirit and implemented.
In Pokhara, the home of Gurungs who are attracted to service in the British and Indian armies, Koirala said recruitment in foreign armies shouldn’t be stopped until alternative arrangements are made.

Border alert after Mumbai attacks

Kathmandu, 29 Nov: Security at entry and exit points have been tightened with increased vigilance to prevent a spillover on terrorist violence to Nepal following Mumbai incidents, government
spokesman Krishna Bahadur Mahara said Saturday.
Fresh reports said nearly 150 persons were killed in the terrorist attacks.
Two Nepalese were injured.
