Govt. to ban public smoking in public places
Kathmandu, 5 Nov: Government is preparing legislation to ban smoking in public places.
Neighbouing India imposed a similar ban recently.
Home Minister Bamdeb Gautam said designated public places will be set aside for smokers.
Hoardings advertising cigarettes will also be banned, Gautam revealed.

Chaat puja ends
Kathmandu, 5 Nov: One hundred thousand worshippers made offering to the rising sun dawn Wednesday along the Bagmati and Manahara in the capital and Rani Pokhari ending a three-day fast marking the end of the mainly tarai festival.
Worshipers swelled nearly by 20,000 in the capital this year, an estimate said.
Worshippers also made offerings to the setting sun Tuesday evening

Krishna Prasad Shibakoti dead
Kathmandu, 5 Nov: Ailing Krishna Prasad Shibakoti, 65, died, Tuesday of of kidney failure and diabetes.
Top communist leaders, including Communications Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara and former CPN-UMl General-Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal paid theirlast respects to Shibakoti at Pashupatinath Aryaghat.
Shibakoti edited Jwala and Charcha weeklies in the panchayat era.

Govt to appoint new ambassadors to India, Great Britain and USA
Kathmandu, 5 Nov: Government is working to appoint new ambassadors to India, United Kingdom and USA after recalling envoys appointed by the previous Girija Koirala government.
“New political appointments will be made in a new situation,” Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav said. “”They will be nominated with the agreement of political parties represented in with government.”
Dr Suresh Chalishe, a personal secretary of then Premier Girija Prasad Koirala, former Foreign Secretary Murari Raj Sharma and Durgesh Man Singh were appointed ambassadors to USA, United Kingdom and India respectively in Nepali Congress quota.
Congress repaid Sharma for leading an anti-king campaign in New York even as he was working as an international civil servant with the UN.

French climber dead on Ama Dablam
Kathmandu, 5 Nov: French climber Pierre Jeanmary died Tuesday while scaling the 6812 meters high Ama Dablam, according to police.
Other members of the group are safe.
