Maoist central committee meet begins

Kathmandu, 17 Nov: A crucial central committee meet of the CPN (Maoist) began in Kharipati, Bhatktapur Monday ahead of Thursday’s national workers’ meet which will debate taking the county into a Stalinist people’s republic.
The extreme proposal of top leader Mohan Baidya Kiran faction is opposed by another group led by Prime Minister Prachanda who is presenting a written political report for adoption.
Both groups claim a majority.
Department chiefs are presenting separate reports to the central committee.
Government performance, integration of PLA with Nepal Army and other issues are also being discussed.

No govt. decision to return seized assets : Bamdeb Gautam

Kathmandu, 17 Nov: Without being critical of his boss or disagreeing with Prime Minister Prachanda who said government will compensate victims whose assets were seized by Maoists from state coffers, Home Minister Bamdeb Gautam said in Chitwan a government decision is needed for the return.
Government, he said, hasn’t taken a decision.
The statement was guarded and was also aimed at placating opponents of Prachanda’s commitment to compensate victims through state compensation.

PM informs CA on outcome of his India visit

Kathmandu, 17 Nov: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda Monday informed the CA on the outcome of his India visit.
Assembly members Sunday criticized his Sunday for not furnishing details.
Prachanda also addressed the 2nd summit of BIMSTEC in the Indian capital.
The visit, he said, has helped enhance ties with regional countries and added he reviewed bilateral ties with Indian leaders.
