Kathmandu, 3 Nov: Daya Ram Bhakta Mathema, 81, died 29 October, family said.
Mathema was a political aide of King Tribhuvan.

UFTAA in Nepal in Nov 2009

Kathmandu, 3 Nov: Nepal will host the 43rd conference of the United Federation of Travel Agents Association (UFTAA) in the capital from 20 to 24 November 2009.
The 42nd conference of the association took the decision in Manila recently.

Govt. committee to study effect of recession

Kathmandu, 3 Nov: Government has formed a team chaired by National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Dr Pitambar Sharma to study the likely effects of world recession on Nepal.
Nepal Rashtra Bank Governor Krishna Bahadur Manandhar, Finance Secretary Rameshwor Khanal, Senior Economic Advisor Shriram Paudel, FNCCI Chairman Kush Kumar Joshi and Chairman of bankers’ Association Radesh Pant are members.
Finance Ministry Joint Secretary Bimal Wagle is member-secretary.
The recession has had nominal effect so far because the Nepalese economy isn’t integrated with the world economy.

Kosi victims launch movement

Kathmandu, 3 Nov: Thousands of Kosi river flood victims launched an indefinite movement Sunday charging was indifferent to their demands.
They have pushed 10 demands.
The victims in camps in temporary shelters in east Nepal launched the movement with the onset of winter.
The movement is has been launched by the Kosi Victims’ Struggle Association.
