PM Prachanda lashes out directly against Girija Koirala

Kathmandu, 14 Jan: PM Prachanda lashed out at main opposition leader Girija Prasad Koirala charging his for a suicidal
attempt to topple the Maoist-led government.
“If the former prime minister is considering toppling the government, it’ll be suicidal.
“If counterrevolutionary powers and status quoists bring down the government, the next day there’ll be a turbulent popular uprising; no power on earth can stop it, Prachanda said.
The prime minister, who is chairman of Unified CPN (Maoist), said this while addressing a public meeting in the capital to announce the unification of CPN (Maoist) with the CPN (Unity Center/Mashal). .
“If hurdles are placed to take the peace process to its logical conclusion, and prevent integration and drafting a constitution, we’re even ready for a decisive movement. Big brotherly attitude towards us isn’t acceptable.
“If the government falls because of us, Nepal’s future will be bleak. Nepal’s identity will come under crisis.
“All signatories of the 12-point agreement are in the same boat. Other will drown if fit sinks; but will be safe with out rafts,” Prachanda said..
“After entering Baluwatar and Singha Durbar, I found filth everywhere. If this filth isn’t removed easily, unprecedented measures and tools will have to be used,” he also threatened.

Independent terai main issue of new terai party
Kathmandu, 14 Jan: Chairman Jai Krishna Goit of Terai Janatantrik Party said Tuesday the new party formed after merging three groups will fight for an independent terai.
Pawan Giri of United Janatantrik Mukti Morcha is vice-chairman of the party while Jwala Singh of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha is its general secretary.
Ajad is terai government chief while Khidiram is organization chief.
The three parties were unified because past split had sidelined the main issue of cause of independent terai, Goit said in a statement.
Goit said over phone talks were continuing with other groups for unification.
Published reports said the three groups held unity talks across the border in India.

.Govt prepares to declare slain woman journalist martyr
Kathmandu, 14 Jan: Government is preparing to declare slain woman radio journalist Uma Singh a martyr, Home Minister Bamdeb Gautam told the CA Tuesday.
Singh was hacked to death by khukris in a raid on her rented roon in Janakpur Sunday.
Gautam said government will compensate her family and provide relief.

PM Prachanda launches literacy drive
Kathmandu, 14 Jan: PM Prachanda Wednesday launched in Bhaktapur a Rs 1.04 billion national drive to make 2.6 million people literate with the slogan ‘Know Alphabets and be Civilized’.
The first three-month programme began Wednesday and the second three-month campaign will begin 14 April.
Altogether 40,000 students have been mobilized for the drive..
The campaign is being conducted in Maithali, Abadhi, Bhojpuri, Tamang, Doteli and Nepali.

Kathmandu, 14 Jan: The Norwegian King Harald V will grant visiting Prime Minister Prachanda an audience while visiting Norway from 19 January, the foreign ministry said.

Army chief receives secret, devastating report on UNMIN Chief Ian Martin

Kathmandu, 14 Jan: Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal has received a secret report on Ian Chief Ian Martin from the operation department, Janaastha reports.
The secret report has details on the establishment of UNMIN and its links with Maoists.
The report says he was appointed a special representative of the secretary-general for for his aggressive role and links with international players during King Gyanendra’s undemocratic rule.
Martin first came to Nepal as special representative of OHCHR.
The report claims Martin worked only in favour on Maoists inciting them against the peace agreement.
His last Nepal report to the UN has exaggerated the success of the peace.
“Finally, UN headquarters has understood his bias and decided to recall him,” the report to the chief says.
The report also says Samuel Tamrat and former Norwegian ambassador to Nepal Tore Toreng supported Maoist lawlessness alleging they convinced western countries.
The report says Tamrat is a former Eritrian communist guerrilla who convinced Maoists to accept a UN role in Nepal.
Tamrat lobbied with Baburam Bhattarai in Nodia, India repeatedly for the establishment of UNMIN in Nepal.
The Norwegian ambassador facilitated talks between western governments and Maoists.
When PM Prachanda visited New York to address the UN general assembly, meetings were arranged with Peru’s Shining Path and other revolutionary groups with their help.
They aranaged meetings with RIM as well.
