Govt. declares slain woman journalist martyr

Kathmandu, 15 Jan: Government Sunday evening declared slain woman radio journalist a martyr.
Government announced a one million rupees compensation for her family.
She is the first woman journalist killed in recent times amid difficult working conditions for journalists.
Maoists have been responsible for most of the killings.

New NPC chairman appointed

Kathmandu, 15 Jan: Gunmani Sharma has been appointed new vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission.
Sharma was appointed after another Dr Pitambar Sharma refused to accept responsibilities after appointment by the Maoist-led government.
He objected to appointments to the commission, including sister of Maoist Tourism Minister Hishila Yami, without mutual consultation.
Dr Pitambar is a communist advocate who got a doctorate degree in USA in the Panchayat regime even as USA debarred communists from entering USA.
Dipendra Bahadur Chetri has been appointed governor of Nepal Rashtra Bank by the cabinet Thursday.

Miracles are happening

Kathmandu, 15 Jan: Miracles are happening.
Load-shedding hours are being reduced by hours without announcement.
Power cut was reduced by as mush as four hours in parts of the capital by at least four hours amid a 16-hour daily crippling outage.
People are relieved.
But how will the Maoist government manage power demand amid a shortage and growing public protests?
Safa tampo owners and
workers kept their vehicles Thursday indoors; people suffered.
PM Prachand said load-shedding problem was another rason for th cancellation of his visit to Norway and Finland.

Kathmandu, 15 Janb: PM Prachanda told reporters Thursday he had to suddenly cancel visits to Norway and Finland because be couldn’t be away from the country for 10 days.
He said the situation at home was ‘serious’.
‘He’s in power and says he will capture power through street protests,” CPN-UML General Secretary and leader of the second party in the ruling coalition Jhalanath Khanal said Thursday hitting out at Prachanda in the capital.
Another CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli described the unification of CPN (Maoist) and CPN (Unity Center/Mashal) a unification of ‘mandeles’.
A central committee meeting of the unified radical communist parties ws rescheduled Thursday without assigning reasons.
This was another reason given by Maoists for the cancellation of Prachanda’s Norway, Finland visits.
