Maoists agree to declare deadline to meet opposition demand

Kathmandu, 1 Jan: Maoists agreed Thursday to meet a main opposition demand to declare a deadline to meet nine demands of Nepali Congress.
Five other parties in the ruling six-party coalition exerted pressure on CPN (Maoists) at a meeting Thursday.
Congress has been mounting pressure on Maoists by boycotting CA session for nearly one month.
Ruling member of the coalition CPN-UML Wednesday backed the Congress pressure as Maoists said attempts are being made to isolate them and topple a government it leads.

One Nepali feared dead in Thailand hotel fire
Kathmandu, 1 Jan: One Nepali tourist is feared dead in a hotel fire in Bangkok Wednesday killing at least 60 Asian and western tourists, agency reports said.
Four other Nepalis are suspected injured in the hotel inferno.

Pilot error cause of Lukla air crash killing 14 Germans

Kathmandu, 1 Jan: Pilot error caused a crash of a Twin Otter aircraft at Lukla airport, the entry-point to Mount Everest, 8 October killing 14 Germans, two Australians and two Nepali crew members, a Nepali investigation report submitted to government Wednesday said.
The Nepali captain of the crew survived with severe injuries.
‘The crew made incorrect judgment of information of the deteriorating weather conditions and flew the aircraft into a cloud patch. This was the main reason behind the tragedy,” The Kathmandu Post said quoting the report.
Tourists were being ferried to Mount Everest area at the beginning of the popular trekking season from the Nepalese capital.
After the Annapurna trek in the central western region, Everest or Sagarmatha region attracts the most tourists.
