Sri Lankan president cuts short Nepal visit ; cricket team attacked in Pakistan (BREAKING NEWS)

Kathmandu, 3 March: Visiting Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa cut short his Nepal visit by one day Tuesday.
He returned home without paying a flying visit to Lumbini, birthplace of The Buddha, after receiving news the island nation’s cricket team was attacked by terrorists in Pakistan.
He was scheduled to fly back home Wednesday.
Some members of the cricket team were injured.
Then Pakistani President Yahya Khan cut short a visit in early 1970’s because of an internal crisis in Pakistan.

Curfew declared in Mahendranagar

Kathmandu, 3 March: Local authorities in the far-West town of Mahendranagar declared an indefinite curfew in the Kanchanpur district town amid continuing clashes between students and police Tuesday.
Students are protesting a decision of the Maoist-led government to establish a university in Surkhet instead of Mahendranagar.

Agreement between govt and Maoists to call a parliament winter session

Kathmandu, 3 March: Prime Minister Prachanda and main opposition leader Girija Prasad Koirala reached agreement to convene a winter session of parliament by the end of March.
The agreement came at a meeting Tuesday.
Opposition is charging government of by-passing parliament and attempting to run government through ordinances.
The Maoist-led government could face a no-confidence motion in parliament.
Maoists said they will unleash a rebellion if attempts are made to oust the six-month government.

Opinion divided on army recruitment

Kathmandu, 3 March: A two-man bench of the supreme court Tuesday referred a controversial decision to recruit 2,800 recruitments in Nepal Army to a full bench of the apex court.
Opinion was divided as Maoists started recruitment into the PLA Tuesday to match the state army drive.
A public interest litigation claimed the army recruitment was unconstitutional.
