Winter session adjourned with minimum business

Kathmandu, 29 March: The first day of the winter session of parliament was adjourned with minimum business lasting not more than two minutes.
Chairman Subash Nemwang read out a letter of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to the legislators.
Legislators mourned the death of two parliamentarians as well.
PM Prachanda flew for visits of Norway and Finland one day before the parliament was scheduled to meet drawing criticism from ruling and opposition parties.
Main opposition Nepali Congress is presenting itself aggressively in the legislature.
This could affect the future of the six-month Maoist-led government and the constitution drafting process as Maoists don’t have a majority to enforce a communist agenda.

Curfew renewed in Butwal

Kathmandu, 29 March: A curfew was renewed in Butwal Sunday noon.
CPN-UML is protesting what it called murder of its student activist
Thursday by coalition partner Maoists
threatening the future of the six-month government.

Capital receives good shower

Kathmandu, 29 March: To the delight of residents, the capital received a good shower after a five-month dry spell.
The people were thirsty and gardens had dried.
The rain was accompanied by lightning.
Frogs were married off to call for rain as women in villages
danced naked in traditional fashion.
