Chairman Nemwang convenes meeting of constitution drafting committees
Kathmandu, 23 April: CA Chairman Subash Nemwang has called a meeting Thursday of chairmen of 11 subject committees of drafting a constitution after delay in preparing preliminary drafts.
The committees were asked to submit drafts by Thursday to a main constitution drafting committee headed by Madhav Kumar Nepal.
The drafts weren’t ready by Wednesday.
A preliminary draft of a proposed basic law should have been prepared by Friday for discussion.
Nemwang will discuss new schedules for drafting a delayed constitution that has to be prepared by May 1010.
Delay in drafting constitution will create a political crisis.
Differences between major political parties has also led to delay in preparing a draft of the constitution.
The committees haven’t analyzed and prepared a synopsis of 400,000 suggestions received from the public.

Maoist students abuse, disgrace TU vice-chancellor, rector
Kathmandu, 23 April: Maoist students Wednesday disgraced and abused TU Vice-Chancellor Dr Madhav Raj Sharma and Rector Prof Surya Lal Amatya by smearing their faces black.
Students were protesting a hike in examination fees after nearly two decades.
Authorities said fees were hiked to meet growing expenses.

Everest Bank Ltd records Rs 447.9m net profit
Kathmandu, 23 April: Everest Bank Ltd, a joint venture with Punjab National Bank, announced a record Rs 447.9 million net profit at the end of Q3 ending 13 April.
The bank recorded a Rs 299.4 million profit in the corresponding previous year quarter.

ADBL to sell 437,400 promoter shares of Nepal SBI Bank Ltd
Kathmandu, 23 April: Agriculture Development Bank LTD (ADBL) will sell 437,400 promoter ordinary shares it holds of Nepal SBI Bank Ltd at least Rs 780 per share.
Par value of each share is Rs 100.
Preference will be given to investors who make a better offer.
