Dr Shekhar Koirala elected from Morang 7

Kathmandu, 11 April: Dr Shekhar Koirala of Nepali Congress wrested the Morang 7 constituency from MJF in Friday’s by-election.
Koirala, nephew of Girija Prasad Koirala, defeated his nearest MJF rival Chum Narayan Tabedar by 600 plus votes.
Koirala family members, including Dr Koirala, were routed in constituent assembly elections 10 April 2008.
KoOirala collected 12,071 votes.
Foreign Minister land MJF Chairman Upendra Yadav had vacated the seat after being elected from two constituencies.
Krishna Gurung of Unified CPN-Maoist is leading his nearest Congress rival Dipak Gurung by nearly 1,000 votes a Kaski vacated by Maoist Law Minister Deb Gurung.
Maoists, Congress and MJF have been declared from constituencies in Kanchanpur, Dhanusha and Morang 5.
Elections were held in six constituencies.
CPN-UML candidate Raghubir Mahaseth is leading in vote counting in Dhanusha and is certain to wrest the constituency from the district vacated by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav after his appointment.
Congress has lost one constituency but has gained another.
Vote counting in Rolpa is expected to begin only after one in the afternoon.
MJF, the largest party in the terai, has fared badly in the vote.
It has lost one constituency but fared badly in other terai districts.
