Maximum flexibility to run parliament smoothly: PM Prachanda

Kathmandu, 11 April: Prime Minister Prachanda said Saturday he’ll adopt ‘maximum flexibility’ in trying to run parliament smoothly whose proceedings have been disrupted since 25 March.
Coalition partner of Maoists in government CPN-UML Friday decided to continue obstruction of cabinet and parliament meetings until the alleged Maoist killer of a CPN-UML is booked.
Maoist secretariat meeting was held Saturday to discuss the obstruction and other issues.
The prime minister plans to hold meetings with leaders of other political parties to break the impasse.
Top Maoist and CPN-UML leaders immediately started discussions after the secretariat meeting and two ours before a scheduled meeting of parliament.

British Twenty20 team flies for Mount Everest for a record breaking cricket match

Kathmandu, 11 April: A 50-member British cricket team Saturday morning flew for Lukla at the foot of the 8848 meters high Mount Everest, the world’s tallest team, to play a record breaking cricket match at the highest altitude.
The Twenty20 match will be staged at Gorakshep situated at 5,165 meters; players could develop life-threatening altitude playing cricket in the rarified air.
The group has 30 players and 20 support staff.
Two teams have been named after Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa who first scaled Mount Everest 56 years ago.
Cricketers from United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand will play the match.
“The dimensions of the ground are of international standards asset by International Cricket Council (ICC),” said Richard Kiretly before proceeding for the mountain.
Kiretly planned the competition.
Proceeds from the match estimated at 200,000 pounds sterling-- will be donated to The Himalayan Trust of UK which runs schools and hospitals in the Everest region.
The Himalayan Trust was founded by Sir Edmund Hillary to help sherpas in the region.
Part of the proceeds will also be donated to The Lord’s Taverners which supports young disabled to enjoy sport.
Every year record breaking exploits are being recorded on Everest and the region.
Pemba Dorji Sherpa is attempting to stay for 24 hours atop Everest without bottled oxygen.
He also holds the record for the fastest ascent on the mountain in eight hours and 10 minutes and two ascents of the peak in five days.
Apa Sherpa is attempting to break a personal record of 18 ascents by climbing Everest this spring.
