Supreme court hearing Wednesday
Kathmandu, 8 April: The supreme court will begin hearing Wednesday arguments on a government request to the apex court to reconsider a court order asking government to reinstate eight brigadier generals whose tenure wasn’t extended on Nepal Army request.
The hearing has become controversial after a meeting between Prime Minister Prachanda and Chief Justice Kedar Prasad Giri Monday when a hearing was first scheduled.
The hearing was rescheduled after to mourn the death of senior advocate Mukunda Regmi.
Giri said he didn’t discuss the government request with the prime minister; the meeting was ill-timed anyway.
Opposition parties have charged Maoists for intervention in the judiciary.
