CPN-UML ready to lead another government: Jhalanath Khanal
Kathmandu, 4 May: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav Monday accepted the resignation tendered by Prime Minister Prachanda and asked him to continue in government until a new government is installed.
CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal told a public meeting in Bara Monday his party is ready to lead a government following the resignation of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal.
A meeting of CPN-UML and Nepali Congress welcomed Prachanda’s decision.
Political parties meet Tuesday to assemble a successor government.
Before resigning, Prachanda charged status quoists also conspired against the Maoist-led government.
Maoist Minister Deb Gurung said the party secretariat decided to launch protests in parliament and street demanding the resignation of Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon expressed concern at Nepal developments and asked all sides to honour provisions of the constitution.
Prachanda resigned eight months 19 days after assuming office saying he won’t ‘bow down to foreign lords’.

he was receiving to maintain Katawal.
But opposition to foreigners from Prachanda who said he spent eight of 10 years in India isn’t credible.
The 12-point deal between Maoists and parties was signed in New delhi and was negotiated by India.

Outgoing govt. makes major appoints
Kathmandu, 4 May: Before resigning Monday, the Prachanda government appointed Samad K. Basnet Chief of Armed Police Force.
Ashok Bhatta was appointed chief of National Investigation Department.
