KP Sharma Oli holds discussions with defeated Indian communists

Kathmandu, 16 June: CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli Monday held discussions in New Delhi with Indian communists routed in recent parliamentary elections won by Congress I of Sonia Gandhi., party sources said.
Oli held discussions with CPI (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat and the party’s foreign department chief Sitaram Yechuri.
Oli also discussed Nepal with CPI General Secretary NB Bardhan and senior leader B Raja.
The right-leaning CPN-UML leader also held discussions with Indian Foreign Secretary Shib Shanker Menon arriving in the capital Saturday.
Oli consulted Girija Prasad Koirala and Surya Bahadur Thapa before flying for India.

Sarah Ferguson, Princess Eugenie visit cancelled

Kathmandu, 16 June: The scheduled visit from Tuesday of Britain’s Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson and daughter Princess Eugenie has been cancelled, British embassy said.
They were arriving on a three-day visit
The visit was being coordinated by White Ribbon Alliance (WRA)—a global alliance working for safe motherhood and neonatal health initiative.
The embassy didn’t give reason for the cancellation.
But the county has been paralyzed by a series of Maoist strikes.

YCL deployed at Pashupatinath

Kathmandu, 16 June: Pashupati Area Development Trust has deployed a 28-member Maoist YCL team for the protection of the temple complex, Rajdhani reports.
They were deployed last week to implement a master plan, according to a trust source.
The group was trained by retired Maj Surya Bahadur Bista before deployment.
Member-secretary Paramanda Sahya admitted they were hired on contract.
‘They come from all over the country; that’s why they can’t be called YCL,” Sakya said.

Maoists won’t meet US pre-conditions

Kathmandu, 16 June: Maoist leader CP Gajurel said Monday Maoists won’t meet US pre-conditions to get off the US terrorist list
“Maoists aren’t in favour of agreeing to US conditions; Let them put us on the terrorist list as long as they want.
“Maoists are ready to accept whatever conditions set by Nepalis but aren’t ready to accept foreign conditions,” he told reporters in the capital.
Maoists, in government, had negotiated unsuccessfully with Washington to get off the list.

French, Danish ambassadors visit Maoist camp

Kathmandu, 16 June: French Ambassador Gilles-Henry Garault and Danish Ambassador Fin Thilsted Monday inspected the fourth division cantonment of PLA in Nawalparasi.
The camp is under UNMIN watch.
