National Life Insurance Co account frozen

Kathmandu, 8 June: The account of National Life Insurance Co was frozen by Nepal Rashtra Bank Monday.
The account was frozen to protect seven billion rupees in investments.
It will be lifted after election of new a new board, an announcement said.

Disagreement in CPN-UML on ministerial appointments

Kathmandu, 8 June: There was no agreement in meetings of CPN-UML on party nominees in government.
Meetings were suspended Monday.
The standing committee met twice to appoint members in addition to PM Madhav Kumar Nepal, defence minister Bidya Bhandariu and finance minister Surendra Pandey.
Maoists Monday attacked CPN-UML office in Banepa in which several activists of the ruling party were injured and were threatened with physical attacks.
Maoists retaliated Maoist attacks against their office one day earlier.

Jhapa declared bird flu free

Kathmandu, 8 June: Jhapa bordering West Bengal, India, was declared bird flu free Friday by the cabinet.
Traces of the disease surfaced three months ago.
