Govt. policy programme approved by majority 305 to 201

Kathmandu, 12 July: Parliament Sunday approved the government’s policy and programme by a majority of 305 votes in the 602-member parliament.
Altogether 201 legislators voted against the plans; eight amendment proposals were registered and but to debate.
Maoists abstained from the debate.
Replying to points raised by members of parliament, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said his government will take the peace process to a conclusion through consensus and understanding.

Govt. appoints committee to probe Bhaktapur killings

Kathmandu, 12 July: Government Sunday appointed a three-member committee to probe the killings of three students in Bhaktapur last week.
The students were killed in charges of attempted kidnapping.
But police deny the charge.
Reports said they were killed in a gang fight.

23 killed in Chhatisghad

Kathmandu, 12 July: Indian Naxalites or Maoists killed 23 security personnel in a landmine attack at a village in Chhatisghad Sunday, reports from India said.
Security personnel were killed after an attack on a police outpost.
Nepal and Nepalis a interested in the Indian Maoist Naxalite movement because India helped Nepal’s Maoists to enter the political mainstream by helping to negotiate a 12-point peace agreement between Maoists and seven parliamentary parries in New Delhi.
But Indian federal and state governments refuse to negotiate with Naxalites described by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as India’s biggest problem.
Singh has said the Naxalite problem is more serious that the insurgencies in Kashnir or the Northeast.
India has double standards on dealing with extreme communists in India and Nepal.
The double standard helped New Delhi severe working relationship of Nepal’s Maoists with Naxalites.
