Maoists propose Dr Babruram Bhattarai to head constitution drafting committee

Kathmandu, 19 July: Maoists at a party meeting proposed Dr Baburam Bhattarai to head the main constitution drafting committee.
Dr Bhattarai drafted the proposed Maoist draft.
The chairmanship of the committee is vacant after the appointment of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Maoists reject invite to join government

Kathmandu, 19 July: Maoist Chairman Prachanda Sunday rejected an invite by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to join the CPN-UML-led government.
Prachanda instead suggested the government correct presidential decision to retain sacked Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal.
Prachanda also threatened to resume obstruction of parliament session after the passage of the annual budget 2009/10.
