Transport strike called off

Kathmandu, 26 July: A three-day Bagmati anchal transport strike was called off by transporters after government agreed to compensate owners of two vehicles Rs 400,000 in damage Sunday.
One minibus was damaged before Tri-Chandra Campus.

British actress Joanna Lumley coming

Kathmandu, 26 July: British actress Joanna Lumley and supporter of equal treatment of Gurkhas in the British army is arriving in the capital Sunday for a week-long visit.
She will be feted by Gurkhas and their families after the Nepali soldiers serving in the British army recently won a battle to reside in United Kingdom after retirement.
She will meet government and political party leaders, including Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Liberal Democratic Party leader Peter carol is also coming with his family.

Baban Singh joins TMLP

Kathmandu, 26 July: Independent and controversial terai legislator Baban Singh joined TMLP Saturday.
He was elected from Rautahat.
Singh was charged for setting off deadly bomb blasts in the capital.

Secretary Janak Raj Joshi to resign

Kathmandu, 26 July: Secretary in the National Planning Commission Janak Raj Joshi announced his decision to resign Friday after a junior was promoted.
The government Friday appointed Madhab Ghimere was appointed chief secretary.
