Cabinet expanded to 45 members

Kathmandu, 2 Sept: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal didn’t stop administering oaths to newly abducted members of his council of ministers Wednesday when one appointee took his oath in Abadhi and another in Hindi.
Abadhi is a mother of some Madeshis although Hindi isn’t a mother of any Madeshi community.
This will create a new language controversy for the Nepal government.
Vice-president Parmananda Jha didn’t take at oath in Hindi as advised by the government and the supreme court creating a crisis for the Nepal government.
Jha has not resigned although the apex court said
in its ruling he no longer will cease to the deputy of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav for not taking oath in the official language as mentioned in the constitution.
PM Nepal earlier threatened to suspend all government perks and privileges to Jha for his defiance.
Nepal didn’t stop administering the oaths when newly appointed ministers didn’t take their oaths in the official language Nepali—an unconstitutional act, according to th constitution.
President Dr Yadav has been criticized for not stopping oath administering when Jha repeated what he said in Nepali in Hindi one year ago.
Nepal expanded his cabinet from 33 to 45 members for the seventh time in four months by inducting cabinet, state and assistant ministers from three terai-based parties, Rashtriya Janasakti Party and another small party.

Govt. appoints four career diplomats ambassadors

Kathmandu, 2 Sept: Government Wednesday appointed four career diplomats ambassadors.
Foreign Secretary Gyan Chand Acharya was appointed Permanent Representative to UN; he was previously representative to the UN office in Geneva.
Acharya’s appointment paves the way for the appointment of Dr Madan Bhattarai as foreign secretary.
Joint Secretary Pradumna Bikram Shah has been nominated ambassador to Brazil.
Madhuban Paudel and Arum Dhital have been appointed ambassadors to Qatar and South Africa respectively.
