Maoists enforce code of conduct

Kathmandu, 3 Sept: UCPN (Maoist) have enforced a 15-point of conduct for central leaders, mouthpiece Janadisha reports.
A decision was taken recently to enforce the a code.
Central leaders have been using public transport system after a ban of private vehicles as they return them.
More than 300 complaints have been registered against leaders at a party committee.

Nine Tibetans arrested

Kathmandu, 3 Sept: Nine Tibetans demanding Free Tibet were arrested Wednesday at the gate of a hotel in Baudha where they chanted slogans as the visiting high-level Chinese delegation was moving in and out for talks with Nepali officials and leaders.
The nine were arrested under the public security act and detained for a week.
The Communist Party of China delegation led by politburo member
has been demanding a crackdown on anti-China activities from Nepali soil.

Girija hints Nepali Congress considering major decision

Kathmandu, 3 Sept: Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala hinted Wednesday he and the party is considering drastic action to tackle the country’s political crisis.
He revealed the party will ‘take a drastic decision soon’ but added, ”I’ll not say what it is right now.”
He said the country is passing through a political crisis.
‘I advised the vice-president to protect his and the supreme court’s image. ; but I don’t know why he acted this way.
“He has hightened the problem by not taking a oath,” Koirala said charging Vice-president Parmananda Jha for not taking an oath of official language Nepali as directed by the supreme court and government.
He revealed he’s thinking of tackling a crisis situation after the language issue and mainly Maoist proposal for the appointment of judges from outside the supreme court and the right of judicial review by parliament.
“There’ll be a big accident in the country by appointing justices from outside the supreme court,” he said and added the fresh Maoist proposals are a ’reflection of its totalitarianism”.
‘There are reasons for problems. No problem in the country can be resolved without understanding, cooperation and unity,” he opined.
Koirala flew to his hometown for a three-day visit admitting the country is facing a political emergency.
The former prime minister often flies to Biratnagar before taking major decisions; he may be considering such a move, as indicated.
