Maoists reject Madesh party demand for cooperation, other details
By Bhola B Rana
Kathmandu, 1 Sept: Maoists Tuesday rejected a demand of three ruling Madesh parties to amend the interim for the l7th time to enable Vice-president Parmananda Jha to retake an oath of office in Nepali one year after installation.
The supreme court and government asked Jha to abide by a second apex court directive rejected by him.
The rejection effectively kills any hope for the amendment as a two-third majority is required in parliament for the amendment; such a majority can’t be collected in the 601-member parliament as Maoists are the biggest party in the legislature.
Maoists again obstructed legislative proceedings Tuesday demanding a discussion on a censure motion against the president for retaining retired Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal after dismissal by the ousted Prachanda government three months ago.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Tuesday challenged Maoists to topple his government and form a majority government,
‘Show support of 360 members which I got. I fear, Maoists haven’t improved, “ Nepal said in Biratnagar.
Maoists greeted Nepal with black flags in the east deciding to boycotthis programmes.
