Ban pushes national unity govt.
Kathmandu, 1 Nov: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Saturday called for a national unity government in a Nepal report.

“A government of national unity remains desirable for timely promulgation of the statute and for the successful integration and rehabilitation of Maoist fighters.
“I call on all parties to arrive at a consensus on the future of the Maoist army personnel as this is one of the cornerstones of the peace process,” he said.

WFP denies NHRC claim
Kathmandu, 1 Nov: WFP Saturday denied a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) report the UN agency distributed sub-standard food in the mid and far-West where a cholera and diarrhea epidemic claimed more than 600 lives this monsoon.
WFP said the claims ‘could raise alarm among more than two million Nepalis who depend on our food our food.”
“Numerous experts, including representatives from World Halth Organization and the Ministry of Health have stated that the illness in the mid and far-West were results of contaminated water, poor sanitation and lack of hygiene.”

2010 year of tiger
Kathmandu, 1 Nov: The year 2010 will be observed as the year of the tiger to raise internal awareness to protest the endangered species.
A four-day conference of 14 tiger range countries took the decision in the Nepalese capital Saturday.
