Maoists gherao Singha Durbar second day
Kaathmandu, 13 Nov: Maoists Friday morning began their gherao of Singha Durbar or the central secretariat for the second and last day.
The gherao aims to disrupt work at the secretariat; movement of people and vehicles in the inner city has been disrupted.
Top leaders, including Chairman Prachanda, are leading the protests on a chilly morning.
Some ministers and officials entered the secretariat before Maoists assembled.
The second phase of the 13-day anti-government movement calling for the correction of what Maoists call unconstitutional decision of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to retain sacked Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal ends Friday.
Maoists blamed government for violence that broke out Thursday during the sit-in in which more than 60 persons were injured.
Maoists could announce fresh protests later Friday even as Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal asked the main opposition to sit down for talks.
Home Minister Bhim Rawal said government acted amid restraint Thursday.
Dr baburam Bhattarai Friday morning threatened third phase of th anti-govrnment if there was no agreement.

Search on for woman minister
Kathmandu, 13 Nov: Parsa district said search was on for a woman state minister who assaulted the district CDO this week.
The district police has asked police in the capital and Lalitpur to arrest State Minister for Agriculture Karima Begum to arrest the minister who assaulted Parsa CDO Durga Prasad Bhandari in his office.
Assaulting a government official is a crime.
Begam’s LMJF is discussing the assault Friday.

US official in town
Kathmandu, 13 Nov: Sam Witten, US State Department Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, arrived Wednesday for a two-day visit.
He held discussions of officials at the foreign and home ministries.
Discussions centered around Tibetan and Bhutanese refugees in Nepal.

Maoists call Jhapa strike
Kathmandu, 13 Nov: Maoists called a strike in Jhapa where President Dr Ram Baran Yadav files later Friday.
The president is scheduled to inaugurate an eye hospital in the eastern district.
