No breakthrough, country heading toiwards crisis

Kathmandu, 20 Nov: There was no breakthrough in talks between Maoists, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML Friday.
There was no agreement between representatives on the three parties in a task force to draft a common parliamentary resolution to meet Maoist demands to correct what Maoists call an unconstitutional decision by a ceremonial president to retain sacked Army Chief Gen Rukhamgud Kawal who acted on the request of 18 parties.
The action was against the spirt of the third popular movement which created a strong executive prime minister by limiting the power of the head of state.
Ruling parties say the president like a constitutional monarch can do do wrong.
Maoist central committee meeting Saturday will decide on the next move of the main opposition party which threatened to launch decisive anti-government protests from Friday if demands weren’t met.
Nepal is heading towards a crisis.

Apa Sherpa on European tour

Kathmandu, 20 Nov: Apa Sherpa, who holds the world record for the most climbs of the 8848 meters high Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak,. leaves on a tour of European capitals Friday to raise international awareness on the adverse impact on the Himalaya by climate change.
He will be accompanied by another Everest climber Dawa Steven Sherpa.
The duo will begin their five-week tour from Prague.
They will be in Copenhagen and participate in a street carnival to celebrate Mountain Day.

UFTTA conference begins

Kathmandu, 20 Nov: The 43rd congress of United Federation of Travel Agents Association (UFTTA) was launched by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal in the capital Friday.
Altogether 125 delegates from 45 countries are participating.
Travel agents will discuss service fees, zero commission, low-cost travel to promote tourism and other issues.

FNCCI to promote business in Malaysia

Kathmandu, 20 Nov: FNCCI and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) have signed a memorandum of understanding in Malaysia to strengthen trade and financial relations.
Visits will be exchanges to promote trade, industrial cooperation and investments.
