Businesses closed down in Birgunj
Kathmandu, 11 Dec: Angry traders closed down businesses in Birgunj across the Indian town of Bihar Friday.
They were protesting the overnight murder of a trader in the town emerging as the most violent urban area in the south.
An Indian criminal gang has claimed responsibility.

Nepal’s foreign currency reserve falls
Kathmandu, 11 Dec.: Nepal’s gross foreign exchange reserve stood at
Rs 249.10 billion in mid-October, a 11 percent drop compared to reserve in mid-July 2009, Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) said.
“In US dollar terms, gross foreign exchange reserves declined by 5.7 percent to $3.38 billion in mid-October 2009,” the central bank said.
The reserve can finance merchandise import for 8.5 months and merchandise and services for 7.2 months.

Another Chinese general coming
Kathmandu, 11 Dec: A delegation led by a deputy director of major general rank of China’s defence ministry foreign affairs section is arriving 15 December, Kantipur reports.
The delegation will hold discussions with Defence Minister Bidya Bhandari and Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal.
This is the third Chinese delegation arriving in Mangshir.
A delegation led by a second-ranking general in Tibet arrived earlier for security talks.
According to the foreign ministry, the delegation will be the ninth to visit Nepal in 2009.
