Four killed in Kailali firing

Kathmandu, 5 Dec: A policeman and three Maoist forest encroachers were killed in a shootout at Baliya VDC in Kailali Friday during a eviction drive. Maoist captured and settled in a community forest in the far-West district since Saturday.
Maoists have brought life to halt in the district with a strike call protesting the police firing.
Suspected drug trafficker Asarafi Ansari, was killed in a shootout with police on Parsa Friday.

Nepal lifts world elephant polo championship

Kathmandu, 5 Dec: Nepal lifts the 28th World Elephant Polo Championship held in Baridya for the first time Friday; the original venue was the Chitwan National Park.
In a convincing win, the Nepali team defeated Tepa Team of Thailand 5-1.

Nepal plays Maldives in South Asian soccer

Kathmandu, 5 Dec: In its first outing, Nepal meets defending champion Maldives in 6th South Asian Federation Football (SAFF) championship in Dhaka Saturday.
The tournament started Friday in the Bangladesh capital.
Nepal is in Group A with India and Afghanistan as well.
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are in group B.
