Maoist nation-wide strike begins on violent note; other details

Kathmandu, 6 Dec: A sudden Maoist nation-wide strike Sunday protesting the violent eviction of squatters in Kailali in the mid-West began on a violent note as protestors vandalized taxis in Thamel in the capital.
The strike has affected the entire nation with closure of businesses, educational establishments and industries; vehicles are off the streets.
Maoists are demanding resignation of the home minister and compensation for the killed.
At least five persons, including a policemen, are confirmed killed when thousands of Maoist squatters were evicted from a government forest dismantling and torching 2,500 hutments Saaturday.

Former king flying for India Sunday

Kathmandu, 6 Dec: Former King Gyanendra accompanied by Queen Komal flies for his second India visit in one year later Sunday after ouster.
The couple is going to India for a two-week visit to attend the wedding of a co8usin in Bhubaneshwor, Orissa.
The former king and queen are transiting through New Delhi.
They could meet top government and opposition leaders in the Indian capital.
Government this time provided them a diplomatic passport a former head of state and first lady.
The couple is scheduled to visit Europe after returning from India.

MJF not to join govt.

Kathmandu, 6 Dec.: MJF, the fourth largest party in parliament and the CA, Saturday announced it will launch a movement to press regional demands
as President Upendra Yadav said the party won’t join government.
Yadav said this while at a public meeting in the industrial town.
Yadav demanded an autonomous Madesh state.
He asked TMLP and NSP to quit government and join the movement.
LMJF is in the government led by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Progress in unity talks between RPP and RJP

Kathmandu, 6 Dec: Unity talks between RPP and Rashtriya Janasakti Party (RJP) are progressing, Annapurna Post reports.
Sources said RPP Chairman Pashupati SJB Rana and RJP Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa Friday agreed to the halo as election symbol.
There’s still no agreement on the unified party’s chairman and name.
Bishwabandhu Thapa could be chairman of the unified party.
