Maoists call nation-wide strike Sunday

Kathmandu, 5 Dec.: Maoists Saturday called nation-wide strike Sunday to protest what they called government excesses and suppression without negotiations of capture of government of hundreds of hectares of government forest in Kailali by their party workers.
The district and other areas in the far-West is tense with the deployment of security forces and opposition by Maoists to the killing of at last three Maoists encroachers Friday in police action.
Maoists said five of their activists were killed; among the killed is a policeman in Friday’s clash.
Prachanda said government in a regressive action is attempting to revive the panchayat.
Maoists first captured state forests.
The main opposition is in a mood to protest in all sectors, including hotel.
Five-star hotels bowed down their of workers pressures in the capital Friday for increased to operate establishments during the peak tourist season.

Kathmandu, 5 Dec: ChargĂ© d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Randy Berry, met with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Friday to discuss the United States’
deep concern about the ongoing political stalemate in Nepal, which
threatens to undermine the peace process, the US embassy said
Chargé Berry emphasized that the government of Nepal and its political leaders should work towards consensus in a positive and constructive manner, the embassy added.
“He expressed his concern that recent Maoist actions, such as the on-going
obstruction of parliament, the planned declaration of “autonomous
states,” and the continuing seizure of crops and land throughout
Nepal, are inconsistent with the stated Maoist commitment to the peace
process, the rule of law, and democratic practices,” the embassy added.
