Controversy in NSU
Kathmandu, 13 Jan.: A controversy has brewed in Nepal Students’ Union, the student wing of Nepali Congress, after six central committee members demanded elections held every two years.
Last elections was held three years ago.
Ramesh Rayamajhi, Bir Bahadur Bista, Yuvaraj Pandey, Krishna Kumari Basnet, Ramesh Karki and Sabin Tamang resigned Tuesday.
Union President Pradip Paudel charged the resignations were attempts at ‘demoralizing’ and a vote was scheduled for 19 April.
Official announcement is awaited, he said.

Prachanda meets Chinese intelligence officer in Hong Kong
Kathmandu, 13 Jan.: Chairman Prachanda held two-hour discussions with a Chinese intelligence officer at the third floor of a hotel in Hong Kong during a short one-day stay, Janaastha reports.
He met Chinese intelligence officer Cheng.
Besides Nepal, he looks after Burma, Laos, Vietnam and also Singapore.
He told Prachanda communist parties UML and Maoists should unite. The same message was given to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal during his recent China visit.
Cheng suggested communists should unite instead of working with rights, he advised Prachanda not to turn the heat on India.
He suggested unity with leftist forces to draft a constitution and develop diplomatic relations with the south.
PM Nepal has been advised not to isolate Maoists.
