Maoists shot dead at brick kiln in Bara

Kahmandu, 7 Jan.: Four persons were shot dead and two were overnight at a brick kiln at Ganjbharatpur in Bara by a gang of four motorcyclists.
Two dead and two injured were Maoists.
The injured are being in the capital
The main opposition has closed down four central terai districts in protest Thursday.

Prachanda leaves for Hong Kong

Kathmandu, 7 Jan.: Chairman Prachanda flew for Hong Kong Wednesday.
He met Rashtriya Janashakti Party Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa before flying for Hong Kong where he’ll address Maoist activists.
Thapa held discussions with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Thursday.
Prachanda has been meeting Indians in close touch with the Indian government during his foreign visits.

Discharge of Maoist child soldiers starts Thursday

Kathmandu, 7 Jan.: The discharge of 4,0008 Maoist child soldiers starts from a camp in Sindhuli.
Altogether 371 combatants will begin from the camp.
Government is providing them transport fare to Janakpur.
The discharge will be completed in four months.
The combatants identified as child soldiers by UN will be integrated unto society through UN funding.

Special committee

Kathmandu, 7 Jan.: A special committee on rehabilitation and integration of Maoist combatants chaired y Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal began meeting Thursday.
At the ;last meeting Nepal proposed Maoist combatants at 17 cantonments and camps be integrated and rehabilitated by 30 April ahead of the 28 May deadline to promulgate a constitution.
Major ruling parties have demanded the 19,000 plus combatants should be rehabilitated and integrated before the constitution’s promulgation.
Maoists has sought time till Thursday to clarify their position on Nepal’s proposal.

Sujata again calls for referendum on federalism

Kathmandu, 7 Jan.: Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala Wednesday renewed her call for a referendum on a federal structure in Janakpur.
She said a federal structure should have only three to five states.
Parties demanding a federal structure demanded resignation saying her demand was against the spirit of the comprehensive peace treaty and interim constitution.
The parties also demanded her resignation from government.
RPP-Nepal central committee has also demanded a referendum on monarchy, Hindu state and a federal structure.
Opposition party Rashtriya Janamukti Party is on a nation-wide protest opposing federalism.
