Maoists withdraw strike

Kathmandu, 22 Jan.: Maoists Friday withdrew a threatened indefinite nation-wide anti-government and anti-president strike that was to begin Sunday.
The retreat was announced by Chairman Prachanda following a meeting of a high-level political mechanism (HLPM).
The meeting agreed to include PM Madhav Kumar Nepal as an invited member.

UNMIN mandate extended


Kathmandu, 22 Jan. UN security council Thursday extended the mandate of UNMIN for another four months.
Nepal government requested the extension.

Four TMLP leaders killed in jeep accident

Kathmandu, 22 Jan.: Four leaders of TMLP died in a jeep accident
at Bhimphedhi in Makwanpur Friday.
Central treasurer Shib Krishna Yadan was among the dead.
A government jeep fell off the highway killing them.

Foreign ministry official arrested. issued forged passports to Afghans

Kathmandu, 22 Jan.: Non-gazetted officer of foreign ministry Bachuram KC was arrested Thursday for issuing passports to Afghan nationals after taking a bribe, Annapurna Post reports.
The passports were issued by forging signatures.
Passports were issued to five Afghans taking a bribe of Rs 1.8 million..

Kathmandu, 22 Jan.: Chitwan district curt has frozen assets of three
Maoist workers accused for the murder of Kathmandu trader
Ramhari Shrestha,, Rajdhani reports.
The court froze assets of Kali Bahadur Kham, Gangaram Thapa
and Keshab Adhikari.
