10 ruling parties ask Maoists not to obstruct development work
Kathmandu, 1 Feb.: A meeting of a coalition of 10 ruling ruling parties asked Maoists not to obstruct development work.
The request came Monday amid Maoist obstruction of the preparation of a detailed project report of the upper Karnali hydro power project by an Indian company.
The interruption comes amid Maoist anti-Indian protests against perceived intervention in internal Nepali affairs.
The parties also decided to urge consensus between to promulgate a constitution within the 28 May deadline.

RPP, RJP to announce merger Thursday
Kathmandu, 1 Feb.: RPP and Rashtriya Janasakti Party (RJP) led by Surya Bahadur Thapa are to announce a merge Thursday, former minister Buddhi Man Tamang said Monday.
Both parties of former panchas that supported monarchy held separate discussions Monday.
The two parties have adopted a republican agenda but RPP-Nepal
led by Kamal Thapa has stuck to a constitutional monarchy agenda.
Tamang said the name and flag of the united party will be decided
by a joint general convention.
