President prays for timely promulgation of constitution

Kathmandu, 24 March: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav said Thursday he prayed for the timely promulgation of a constitution and peace while offering puja and prayers at Ram Janaki mandit Wednesday in Janakpur,
He listened to the recitation of the Ramayan puran.
The president drive to the temple from his home village in Sapati but flew in and out of the temple complex in an army helicopter.

Former King welcomed in Janakpur

Kathmandu, 24 March: Former King Gyanendra was greeted with loud cheers by thousands of supporters when he offered prayers and puja at Ram Janaki mandir in Janakpur Wednesday on Ram Nawami or the birthday of Lord Ram.
Supporters shouted slogans for his return and declaration of a Hindu state.
The former King attended a luncheon reception hosted by a supporter in the holy town.
He was scheduled to return to the capital by a regular commercial flight.
The visit received wide publicity.
The activities of the former king are no longer ignored by the media as in the royal regime when he was derided.

Sher Bahadur Deuba claims leadership of Nepali Congress

Kathmandu, 24 March: Sher Bahadur Deuba Wednesday claimed the leadership of Nepali Congress after the death of Girija Prasad Koirala Saturday.
The party met informally Saturday.
Acting President Sushil Koirala and parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel are also in the race to succeed Koirala.

Departmental responsibilities in UML

Kathmandu, 24 March; UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokhrel was appointed chief of the organization department Wednesday.
Firm critic of Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, KP Sharma Oli was nominated chief of the foreign department.
The party is leading a 22-party coalition government.
Responsibilities were assigned to 15 departmental chiefs.
