US ambassador holds discussions with Maoists

Kathmandu, 21 April: US Ambassador Scott H. DeLisi held discussions with Maoist Chairman Prachanda Wednesday.
US has direct relations with Nepal’s Maoists even as Washington puts Maoists on its terrorist list.
DeLisi assumed office Sunday after presenting his credentials to President Dr Ram Baran Yadav.

One labourer killed

Kathmandu, 21 April One labourer injured in a clash Tuesday between Maoist and UML workers at the Gorkha Brewery in Nawalparasi died Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.
One dozen workers were injured in the clash.
Maoists closed down Nawalparasi in protest Wednesday.

Ang Chiring Sherpa leaves for Everest Base camp

Kathmandu, 21 April: Ang Chiring Sherpa, 38, left for Everest base camp Wednesday in a bid to complete his mission to climb the seven highest summits of the seven continents within 50 days.
He has climbed six summits in six continents in 26 hours and 12 hours.
Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, is 8848meters high.
Ang Chiring currently lives in USA.

Nagraj, who abducted and killed child, arrested

Kathmandu, 21 April: A child abducted from a school in the capital 13 months ago was killed in India, Annapurna Post reports.
Rajeshwor Singh Nagraj was arrested for abduction and murder in Sarlahi Sunday and brought to Kathmandu.
He’s a member of the Terai Cobra group.
He demanded Rs 3.5 million over telephone in ransom.
