Cabinet request to lawmakers to vote for govt. bill
Kathmandu, 25 May: A cabinet meeting Tuesday asked lawmakers to vote in favour of a government to extend the two-year tenure of the constituent assembly (CA) that ends in three days Friday.
Nepal is facing a constitutional and political crisis.
A scheduled meeting of parliament where government is to table an 8th amendment to the interim constitution to extend the tenure of the elected CA by one year won’t be held Tuesday for the second consecutive day.
Chairman Prachanda is waiting the outcome of a summit of three biggest parties to hammer out an outlet to the prolonged crisis.

Central passport office formed
Kathmandu, 25 May: Cabinet Tuesday formed a central passport office to facilitate the issue of passports with delay in printing machine readable passports (MRPs).
People have been inconvenienced after government under pressure cancelled a contract awarded to India without international tender.
Foreign ministry and offices of the CDO issued passports.
